Barbados has some of the most gorgeous beaches on the planet, and we know you're itching to explore every single one of them. Here's a handful of our favourites along the West Coast in order of proximity from our studios and cottages. We've also included our favourite places to eat or stock up on food before going, what we consider to be the perfect beach mornings or afternoons on the West Coast of Barbados.
Our Beach Recommendations
Closest Beach Access
The closest beach access from your studio or cottage is through the Beach Club, so make sure to bring your access card to unlock the gates to the club and the boardwalk. You can read all about the Beach Club here. From the boardwalk, it's a two-minute stroll to Holetown Beach. We recommend starting your beach day by feeling up at the quaint Cafe Bar Carizma in the Chattel Village, or Bean n' Bagel across the street.

Holetown Beach
Our closest beach is an absolute stunner. It's our top pick and a guest favorite too. The best part? It's super close to the Beach Club Membership and an array of ocean front restaurants to suit any budget. We recommend a super casual lunch at Zaccios, sometimes referred to as "Little Britain" and drinks and Bajan plates from Surfside Beach Bar.

Folkstone Beach
This is where we love to for sunrise dips on Saturday mornings when it's nice and secluded. We like that it has shady spots in the morning that are ideal for kids and those who want to maximise their time by the ocean without burning to a crisp. This spot goes especially well with a pastry and coffee from the renowned French bakery, La Baguette, or some healthy morning treats from BuzzBox.

Sandy Lane Beach
Here's the scoop on Sandy Lane Beach: it's undeniably breathtaking. Just a heads up though, you'll find some super posh hotels nearby, including the famous Rihanna's penthouse. These places don't mess around when it comes to boundaries, so forget about using their swim-up dock. Still, for most, this beach is a must-see as it offers pristine sands and some of the most picturesque views of the coast line. For the perfect portable beach-friendly foods, we recommend stocking up on wraps and juices at BuzzBox in Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, or the acclaimed GreenBox delivery service.

Batts Rock Beach
This is a must: an afternoon at the breathtaking Battsrock Beach paired with a table at the trendy La Cabane restaurant. This feet-in-the-sand eatery is a slice of paradise right on the beach, and the ideal place to relax with some drinks and meals while you take in the stunning sunset views. Locals love this spot, and it can get pretty busy in the late afternoon, so it's best to make your reservations ahead of time (especially in winter).

Gibbes Beach
Welcome to Gibbes beach, one of the most tranquil beaches on the island. Gibbes beach is located a little farther North and best accessed by car or bus. The beach here is considered one of the most unpopulated on the island and is perfect for relaxing in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere under the warm Caribbean sun. The crystal clear and incredibly calm waters are great for a soothing and relaxing swim. What's more, it's just a three-minute walk from the very trendy Sea Shed beach restaurant (where we got engaged). Reservations are a must, this spot is popular amongst locals, especially on Saturdays and Sundays.

Speightstown Beaches
Ah, the stunning beaches of Speightstown, Barbados! We feel that these beaches are best enjoyed at two of our favourite restaurants (reservations may be required). For an authentic Bajan food experience, head over to the famous Fisherman's Pub. Known for its casual vibes, this spot serves up some of the most delectable local dishes on the island. Don't forget to pair your meal with a bucket of refreshing Deputes!
On the other hand, if you're up for a more upscale dining experience, Local & Co is the place to go. This farm-to-table beach restaurant and bar offers a posh setting and pricier yet delicious food and drinks.

Pebbles Beach
Head to beautiful Pebbles Beach for the remarkable experience of watching race horses enjoying a morning swim. You can get pretty close-up and some handlers will allow you to pet their horse and take amazing selfies. Before the sun rises, grooms from the nearby Garrison Savannah start leading the island's racehorses down the short trek to the beach. This ritual occurs nearly daily between approx. 5:30 am and 7 am, and is totally worth the early wake-up! This beach is also a great spot at other times of the day, where you'll find water sports as well as Bajan food and drink stalls. We especially enjoy brunch at the stylish Sage Bistro!
