Power or WiFi Outages
Power or internet outage? No worries, we're probably already aware as we live in the same area. We'll find out what's going on and how long it should take to get back up and running. Believe us, 99% of the time it's just a temporary, area-wide outage. For updates on service issues in Barbados, check out these websites:
For power outages in Holetown: The BL&PC posts notices about area-wide outages and estimated restoration times on their Facebook page.
For internet outages: Flow Barbados shares updates on their Instagram page.
A power outage is the perfect time to crack open a cold drink and unplug. And don't worry about your fridge, keep the door closed and we'll make arrangements for a cooler if the outage is forecasted to last more than three hours.
Storm Season (June-Nov)
If you're visiting Barbados during the storm season the odds are still excellent that you'll have a storm-free vacation. Due to our geographical location outside of the hurricane belt, Barbados typically experiences tropical depressions or storms which then gain strength and become hurricanes as they travel up the belt.
What to Expect
Water accumulation on streets of Holetown including Flamboyant (this usually evaporates overnight);
Heavy rain sounds due to Barbados tin roofing which may make rain sound heavier than it is;
Early closures of businesses at the approach of a forming storm system;
In September, longer closures of some businesses for renovations;
Intermittent closures of the Beach Club for repairs and improvements;
Hot and humid weather (over 30°C / 86°F);
Some overcast periods during the day;
Scattered showers mixed with sunny periods;
Short power outages during rainstorms;
Heavier presence of mosquitos and flies.
